“We are already using artificial intelligence, image processing, machine learning and things like that. But we are also going more deep and deep in those areas,” the company’s general manager told Breaking Defense.
The Turkish defense firm also revealed an AI-enabled combat management system, part of what an exec said was an effort to integrate AI into the company's "digital troops concept."
Two naval vessels and three aerial systems, all from Turkish firms, were shown to the public on the first day of the Turkish exposition.
"SAHA has evolved from a national showcase into a genuine global meeting point for the defense and aerospace industry, and the 2026 edition will reflect this maturity," one expert said.
The system will pair Honeywell’s Stationary and Mobile UAS Reveal and Intercept (SAMURAI) system with Odys’ Laila aircraft to defend from unmanned drone threats.
The company, famous for producing mid-range drones that proved effective in the early days of the Ukraine conflict, said the K2 fits within its “cost-effective defense solutions strategy."
Company official said that some subsystems of HAMZA-3 were imported from China but the firm expects to localize full production in Egypt.
Combined with the $240 million announced in deals for EDGE on day one, the local UAE champion has brought its contracted total from the show to roughly $635 million.
The Turkish president, for example, stressed that Turkish companies "supplied 65 of every 100 UAVs sold globally."
Analyst Ryan Bohl told Breaking Defense it appeared the Iranian general's comments reflect that Iran is "doing something to secure itself even in the face of a more aggressive Israel and US ... ."
"The significant number of agreements signed by EDGE with international weapon manufacturers speaks volumes about the Emirati company’s 360-degree business expansion strategy, securing a strong foothold in the West and Asian defense markets alike," Leonardo Jacopo Maria Mazzucco, an analyst at Gulf State Analytics, told Breaking Defense.
